Help to Buy in Scotland

In Scotland, the equity loan scheme is run differently. There is a fixed budget and, once this is allocated, no further applications will be accepted. Topline detail are:

  • only available for transactions due to complete between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2016
  • only applications via “administering agents” are accepted
  • first-time buyers or existing homeowners are eligible
  • new-builds from participating builders up to a value of £250,000 (since 22 Oct 2014)
  • the property must be your only property (any previous properties must have been sold before your new purchase)
  • no annual interest is payable on the equity loan
  • not available on part exchange purchases but your builder can offer an “assisted sale” package
  • special scheme for small housing developments to be announced.
